Our Doctors
Dr. John Blatz DDS
After graduating from Boston College in 1979, Dr. Blatz received his DDS from Northwestern University Dental School in Chicago, Illinois in 1983. His memberships to professional organizations include the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. Out of over 5000 dentists in Massachusetts, he is one of the 150 who are members of the prestigious American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Blatz has taken thousands of hours of continuing education in excess of state requirements. When he’s not busy with dentistry he can be found perfecting his golf game or challenging his wife, Alison, or his daughters, Haley and Rachel, to a game of tennis.
Dr. Stephen Black DMD
Dr. Black graduated from Boston College in 1973. He continued his education at the Boston University Goldman School of Dentistry, graduating in 1977. Since 1977, Dr. Black has been a member of the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association, Brockton Area Study Club, the Massachusetts Dental Society, the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He has exceeded continuing education requirements each year since 1977. Dr. Black and his wife, Barbara, formerly an instructor at Stonehill College, are the proud parents of 3 boys: Matthew, Andrew and Keith. They have resided in Bridgewater since 1985 where Dr. Black has been active in a number of community service programs at the Catholic Center at Bridgewater State College and at the Senior Center. Dr. Black continues his avid interest in skiing, golf, tennis and coaching his sons for the various sports programs in Bridgewater.
Dr. Ariel Bales-Kogan DDS
Dr. Bales-Kogan gradated from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, with a joint B.Sc. degree in Physiology and Mathematics in 1999. He then traveled south to Boston to receive his DMD degree from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2003. Immediately after completing his DMD, he enrolled in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at the same school, and received this certification in 2004. After this initial residency, Dr. Bales-Kogan was accepted to a combined Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Certificate and Masters of Science in Dental Public Health, also at Boston University, and completed all requirements for this program in 2007. As well, Dr. Bales-Kogan is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics, a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, and Massachusetts Dental Association.
Dr. Bales-Kogan shares many interests outside the profession of orthodontics, among them a devout tennis player and fan, a fond love for travel and the world, and cutting edge technology and gadgets. He also has a deep appreciation for knowledge and improvement, and is currently a visiting lecturer for the Orthodontics course at Boston University.
Dr. Bales-Kogan was born in Petah-Tikva, Israel, and spent his early formative years there. At an early age, his father, an aerospace engineer, began working abroad, taking the family to Italy, England, and eventually Canada. Ever since he was in the tenth grade he knew that he wanted to be a dentist. He is the middle child of three boys, and his parents happily reside in Everett, WA.
Hygienists
Denise
Denise has been with us since 1998. She graduated from Forsyth School of Dental Hygienists in 1991. She is a member of the Massachusetts Dental Hygiene Association, who recognized her as an outstanding hygienist by presenting her with the "Dental Hygienist of the Year" Award. She was previously an instructor at Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists. Denise specializes in periodontal therapy and concentrates her continuing education in this area. Out of the office, she enjoys skiing, riding motorcycles and other outdoor activities with her family of four.
Terri
Terri is one of Massasoit Dental Associates' four outstanding dental hygienists. A 1997 graduate of Bristol Community College, she is a highly-motivated, devoted and compassionate health professional who takes pride in providing patients with the knowledge needed to increase their dental awareness in order to maintain their overall wellness and long-term health. Her interests outside the dental field are her three teenage daughters, good friends, the beach, coaching girls' softball, and being a #1 Red Sox and Patriots' fan.
Lianne
Lianne graduated from Bristol Community College in 1993 and has been part of the Massasoit Dental team ever since. She enjoys building longstanding relationships with her patients. Lianne feels like Massasoit is her home away from home with such a wonderful and caring staff to work with each day. Lianne enjoys traveling, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Stacey
Stacey has been with us since 2005, and has been practicing dental hygiene for over 16 years. She has been a long-standing member of several family-oriented practices, and is happy to be here now in her hometown, serving many familiar faces. In her spare time, she goes to the gym or spends time with friends. She is a music enthusiast and enjoys traveling abroad.
Jillian
Jillian graduated from Cape Cod Community College, magna cum laude, in May of 2006. She joined our dental hygiene team in November, 2007. She practices from a periodontal perspective and continues to focus her continuing education in that area. She is an active member of the American Dental Hygienist Association, Massachusetts Dental Hygiene Association, and is currently licensed to administer local anesthesia. Her outside interests include being an avid Red Sox fan, Wednesday night Texas Hold’em tournaments, and spending time with her husband and English Bulldog, Abby.
Assistants
Jackie
Jackie is a certified graduate of Northeastern and Tufts University Dental Assistant Program. She has worked in the dental profession for more than twenty years. She has been at Massasoit Dental Associates since 1997 and continues to enjoy working with great doctors and fun, caring co-workers. This is her second family. She feels that together, the office works as a professional health care team. Jackie finds it rewarding to see a patient's appearance change with cosmetic dentistry or new dentures. She loves the increased confidence that a healthy, beautiful smile brings! Jackie is also the lab technician...offering Massasoit patients: bleaching trays, nightguards, and best of all...same day denture repairs!! Her hobbies include golf, painting, stain glass, shopping and water sports.
Kathy
Kathy attended Northeastern University and graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1977. She has continued to attend seminars on the latest techniques and materials used in the dental field. Her outside interests include motorcycle riding and learning the game of golf.
Alison
Alison attended Southeastern Technical Institute and graduated as a Certified Dental Assistant. She really enjoys working in the dental field and is planning on going to Hygiene School in the future. Her main focus is making the patients feel as comfortable as possible. Outside of the office, Alison is busy planning for her June, 2007 wedding. She also enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking and skiing. She is proud to be a part of the Massasoit Dental team.
Front Desk
Renee
Renee has been part of the Administrative Team since 1989 and she has been a patient herself since 1982. Her main focus is on insurance and accounts receivable. She currently has her certificate in accounting and is continuing her degree at Massasoit Community College. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and doing kickboxing.
Debbie
Debbie graduated from Business School and has been part of the Administrative Staff at Massasoit Dental Associates since 1992. Her smile is infectious and gets each day at the office started on a bright note. Debbie loves the patients and her favorite part of the job is making sure that everyone is comfortable at the office. Outside of work, she enjoys her family and friends and doing crafts.
Kathy
Kathy is our treatment coordinator. She has been in the dental field for over 30 years. As a member of our staff since 1992, she is dedicated to providing our patients with the most advanced dental care available and will answer any questions regarding treatment options. Married with three children, her outside interests include family outings. walking, skiing, reading and gardening. Her latest phase is knitting.
Megan
Megan, who is a most pleasant addition to our staff, has been working at the front desk since 2004 and looks forward to bringing her skills to the dental field. She is the mother of three and enjoys baking, dancing and spending time with her family.
